Dick Weis: Oklahoma State coach puts lives on course OSU Athletic Media Relations Aug 28, 2007

\"Dick It happened 34 years ago, but George Buckheit will never forget that day in gym class at Albertus Magnus High School in the spring of 1973. How could he? In just a few seconds' time, one man changed the course of his life. His name was Dick Weis. "We had just finished playing basketball and were running laps around the gym," Buckheit said. "Coach Weis was going to be teaching next period's gym class, and he saw me and grabbed me by the arm. He said, 'Buckheit, you're coming out for my track.' " Buckheit, who went on to help Albertus win the state cross country meet in 1974, became an all-American at Bucknell at both the 3-mile and 10-kilometer distances. He now works in a running store and coaches a variety of track and field programs in Reston, Va.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Oklahoma State junior David Jankowski led the Cowboy cross country team to a top-ten finish at the NCAA Pre-National Meet in Terre Haute, Ind. on Saturday. The Idaho Falls, Id. native, running in his first race since returning from an injury, finished 17th to lead the Pokes to eighth-place in the event.

Gray Becomes Third Cowboy to Qualify for Nationals OSU Athletic Media Relations May 28, 2006

AUSTIN, Texas - Oklahoma State junior Joe Gray became the third Cowboy runner to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships with an impressive showing at the Midwest Regional Meet in Austin, Texas on Saturday. Gray finished with a time of 8:55.93 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, earning him fourth-place honors in the event and an automatic bid to the national meet. The Tacoma, Wash. native moved into fourth place on the final lap of the race after steadily moving up from eighth with three laps to go.

FORT WORTH, Texas. - Oklahoma State junior Terry Josserand highlighted the weekend for the Cowboy track team with his strong performance at the TCU Relays on Saturday. Josserand set a new personal record in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.29. The Owasso, Okla., native achieved his previous high mark of 52.32 just three weeks ago at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas making him the fourth Cowboy to qualify for NCAA Regionals this season.

AUSTIN, Texas - Oklahoma State junior Terry Josserand became the fourth Cowboy runner this season to become an NCAA Regional qualifier with a strong showing at the Texas Relays on Thursday. Josserand, an Owasso, Okla., native, was the only Cowboy runner to compete at the event and earned second-place honors in his heat of the the 400-meter hurdle preliminaries. His time of 52.32 also makes him an NCAA Regional qualifier giving the Pokes four Regional Qualifiers this season.

McMiken to be Inducted into OSU Athletic Hall of Honor OSU Athletic Media Relations Jan 25, 2006

STILLWATER, Okla. - Former Oklahoma State distance runner, Christine McMiken, will be inducted into the Oklahoma State University Athletic Hall of Honor on Friday, Jan. 27. McMiken, a trailblazer in NCAA women\'s athletics during her days at OSU, will be recognized for her excellence as a student-athlete and achievements in athletic competition. The ceremony, hosted by the OSU athletic department and the Iba-Fenimore Society, will take place inside Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater.
