Prowse Earns Academic All-America Honors

Oklahoma State cross country runner Michelle Prowse has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Women's Cross Country/Track and Field first team, as chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Prowse graduated in December after accumulating a 4.0 GPA in health & human performance. It was the second year in a row she earned the honor after being named to the second team last season.

"We are really proud of her for earning this honor for the second straight season," Cowgirl head coach Rene Sepulveda said.

The Kamo, New Zealand native managed to put together a solid senior campaign. She finished 34th at the Big 12 Cross Country Championship and finished 26th at the Midwest Regional Championships, one place shy of all-region honors.

The Academic All-America Team program honors 816 male and female student-athletes annually who have succeeded at the highest level on the playing field and in the classroom. Individuals are selected through voting by CoSIDA (the College Sports Information Directors of America), a 2,000 member organization consisting of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.

To be eligible, a student-athletes must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
