Cowboys Add Talented Pair to Recruiting Class

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's men's track and cross country team added more young talent to its roster with the signing of Jerhoemee Murray, of Hillsboro, Ore., and Clay Mayes, of Claremore, Okla.
The two runners will bring a great deal of talent to a young Cowboy team that won the NCAA Midwest Regional in cross country and finished the season ranked eighth in the nation.

Murray, one of the top runners in the Pacific Northwest, capped his high school career with a third-place finish at the Oregon State Cross Country Meet. Murray captured a second-place finish at the Nike Oregon-Washington Clash, a meet in which the top athletes from both states go head-to-head.

"Jerhoemee is an athlete with a ton of potential," said Oklahoma State assistant coach Dave Smith. "He has taken huge strides during his senior year and I believe he can come in and have an impact on this team by indoor or outdoor season of next year."

Mayes, a senior at Claremore Sequoyah High School, finished second in this year's Class 3A State Cross Country Meet. At this year's Class 4A State Track Meet, he garnered first-place honors in the 3,200-meter run and third-place honors in the 1,600-meter run.

"Clay is one of the top high school prospects in the state," said Smith. "He is also a great student and a great kid. We are looking forward to him contributing to this team in the next few years."
