Braden Garrison Wins Oklahoma Boys T&F Gatorade POY

Every year, Gatorade selects one athlete from each gender and across 12 sports as their Player of the Year for every state in the country. They evaluate on the basis of athletic and academic achievement as well as character of the athletes for criteria. Afterwards, they select a national POY from the state winners.

They announced Braden Garrison as the winner for Oklahoma boys track and field Player of the Year.

The Dewey HS graduate won his second consecutive OSSAA shot put state title last month at the 4A state meet. He won with a 64-4.75 personal best for his sixth event of the season with throws 59-0 or better.

Garrison also won the Hammer Throw at the Great Southwest Classic last month.

Garrison maintained a 3.70 grade point average and is headed to Kennesaw State University this fall.

Additionally, he was a member of the Business Professionals of America and his school's student council. Per Gatorade, he volunteered with local services to provide meals for malnourished children. Garrison was a volunteer blood donor and coach for youth sports.
