Tulsa Track Teams to Compete at Conference USA Outdoor Championships

Tulsa, Oklahoma – The University of Tulsa men's and women's track teams
will compete in the Conference USA Outdoor Championships on
Thursday-Saturday, May 11-13, in El Paso, Texas. The championships,
hosted by UTEP, will take place at Kidd Field.

The Golden Hurricane track teams have competed in seven meets in
preparation for the C-USA Championships, combining for 35 top-10 marks
on the conference top-performers list.

The TU men own 16 top-10 marks in the conference, including 10 top-five
performers. Junior Rickey Wilson, Jr., ties Houston's Sam Fobbs for the
top-time in the 400-meter hurdles. Wilson captured a time of 52.78 in
the event at the Tulsa Duels. He also owns the third-best time in the
conference in the 110-meter hurdles, a time of 14.43 set at the Wichita
State Invitational.

Sophomore Thomas Stoltz turned in the second-best mark in the
conference
with a throw of 64.84m (212'9") in the javelin, while junior Edwin
Henshaw's time of 14:33.63 is the third-best time among conference
runners in the 5,000-meter run.

The women have combined for 19 top-10 marks on the C-USA top-performers
list, including eight top-five marks. Freshman April Montgomery claimed
the fastest time in C-USA in the 400m hurdles, a time of 1:00.23 set at
the Michael Johnson Classic.

Freshman Alex Becker's time of 4:26.64 in the 1,500-meter run set at
the
Stanford Invitational not only qualified her for NCAA Regionals, but is
the third-best time in the conference. Senior Lise Olivier turned in a
time of 10:51.38 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, while junior-transfer
Stephanie Jeffers posted a throw of 15.12m (49'-7.25") in the shot put,
also the third-best marks in C-USA.
