Eagles Dominate at Bobby Lane Arlington Invitational

Arlington, TX- After the second day of competition at the Bobby Lane Arlington Invitational at Maverick Stadium, the Oral Roberts University track and field team placed 12 individuals in the top three of their respective events, including four event champions.

On the women\'s side, Diana Chelimo took the top spot in two individual events. Chelimo and teammate Faithy Kamangila finished one-three in the 1500 meter run with times of 4:28.96 and 4:42.83, respectively. Chelimo then took first in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:10.54, with teammate Catherine Angwech not far behind, finishing with a time of 2:13.94 for a strong second place finish. Kamangila also took home a first place finish for the Golden Eagles after dominating the field in the 5000 meter run, finishing with a time of 17:18.71, more than a minute ahead of the rest of the pack.

Aisha Mitchell also took first place honors in the 400 meter dash. Mitchell sprinted her way into first with a time of 54.43.

In the javelin throw, freshman Rachel Talbert finished second with a distance of 43.54 meters. Sana Koubaa also walked away with a second place finish with a time of 10:31.00 in the 3000 meter run after. In the pole vault, Nikol Zachary took second with a height of 3.95 meters.

For the men\'s team, James Wanjiku was the only individual champion. Wanjiku ousted the competition in the 1500 meter run, finishing first with a time of 3:53.24, a full four seconds ahead of the second place finisher.

In the 400 meter dash, Andretti Bain took second place honors with a time of 46.8. DeMarcus Bass finished third in the high jump with a height of 2.05 meters, and in the 800 meter run, Adrian Foster ran a time of 1:54.37 for a third place finish.

ORU returns to action next week at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas. Events begin on April 6 and conclude on April 8.
