The 2025 track season is almost here. Although indoor comes first, the outdoor season is still not far away. This season is bound to be a special one, as there are multiple athletes within range of state records. This past cross country season was one of the fastest in recent memory, and surely track will follow with that consistency.
In the 800 meters Bella Nelson out of Owasso will look to hunt down that 800m state record. Nelson has run 2:09 twice, narrowly missing the state best on both occasions. This is Nelson's last high school track season, so look for that record too potentially go down.
The 1600m is a similar story with Nelson being far and away the closest to the state record out of the field this year. 4:49 is a difficult mark to achieve, but with Nelson having a 4:51 personal best, it's not completely out of reach. Look for Nelson to potentially challenge this state record as well.
In the 3200m race Natalie Duggan out of Edmond Santa Fe is the current favorite to inch her way closer to the top or break the state record itself. Duggan is currently 14 seconds back on the state record, but after a strong cross country season this record is in danger of being broken.
