Oklahoma Boys and Girls Performer Of The Week (2/24-3/2)
The 2025 outdoor track season is here, which means consistent weekly articles once again! This season started off on Saturday, March 1st. Tulsa Union, Putnam City West, and Midwest City all hosted meets with great times and marks being set all across the board. This article highlights the performers of the week and will be a weekly occurrence. The nominees and voting are below!
BOYS
Jarek Watie (Tulsa Union)
Won the 100 and 200 at the Tulsa Union meet. Achieved times of 10.72 and 21.67.
Britton Mccune (Jenks High School)
Mccune won the 110mH and 300mH at Tulsa Union with times of 15.30 and 40.36.
Payton Dobbels (Blanchard)
Won the 110mH in a time of 16.35 and won the 300mH in a time of 40.66.
Eli Horeled (Bishop Kelley)
Wins the 3200 and places 3rd in the 1600m at Tulsa Union. His time of 9:33.53 in the 3200 meter distance leads the state. His 4:31.65 in the 1600m is third in the state.
Daniel Davis (Tulsa Union)
Davis won the 800m in a down to the wire battle with a time of 1:56.45.
Brayden Cox (Mustang)
Cox won the high jump at Midwest City in a leap of 6-07.00.
Brody Maasen (Jenks)
Won the 1600 meters at Tulsa Union with a time of 4:22.39. Is the state lead this outdoor season so far.
Wesley Turner (Bartlesville High School)
Turner won the pole vault at Tulsa Union in a jump of 15'0". A great season opener for the defending state champion.
Caleb Beyer (Jenks High School)
Beyer threw 157'8" to win the discus event and threw 54'9" in the shot-put to win the event as well.
GIRLS
Daijah Gaines (Tulsa Union)
Gaines won the 400m in a time of 56.02. This time broke her previous school record.
Amaya Harrison (Tulsa Union)
Won the 100mH and 300mH in times of 15.24 and 44.92.
Jenna Doolen (Edmond Memorial)
Doolen placed 1st overall in the 400m with a time of 56.22 at Midwest City.
Bella Nelson (Owasso)
Nelson won the 800 meters and 1600 meters in times of 2:14.74 and 5:02.25.
Amidat Olokunola (Cache)
Won the 800m and 1600m at Putnam City. Her times of 2:22.34 and 5:21.34 start the year off strong.
Pressley Rutledge (Tulsa Union)
Rutledge won the 3200m in a time of 11:15.46. Placed 5th in the mile in a time of 5:23.67.
Kadence Barnett (Bartlesville)
Barnett won the 100 meters in a time of 12.40 at Tulsa Union. Placed 2nd in the 200m with a time of 26.57. Barnett also won the high jump with a leap of 5'5 and the long jump with a mark of 18'5".
Kassidi Watkins (Mustang)
Watkins won the long jump with a mark of 19-00.00. She is the defending state champ.
Carly Borgelt (Tulsa Union)
Borgelt won the shot-put in a throw of 42'7". This mark would have been good for 2nd at the 6A state meet last year.
