Colby Lowe of Southlake, Texas, and Kathy Kroeger of Franklin, Tenn., won the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships South Regional at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, North Carolina. Runners enjoyed ideal race conditions, with a temperature around 32 degrees and light winds.
Riverside senior, Kendrick Whatsa, competed in the race. Whatsa finished in 240th place at the meet in Charlotte, placing fifth in 17 minutes, 42 seconds.
Kendrick Whatsa placed 4th in the 2A State Championships in October.
Garth Peyketewa and Miles Kallestewa from Riverside also competed in the seeded race; they placed 267th and 271st respectively.
In the girl’s race, Sara Vaughn, 2007 5A state champion, placed 42nd. She finished the 5000-meter race in 18:42.
The Foot Locker South Regional took place on November 24th. The top 10 finishers qualify for nationals, December 8 at Balboa Park in San Diego, California.
