OBU Has Dozen Qualifies at OU Meet

Oklahoma Baptist hit 12 national and five provisional qualifying marks in the John Jacobs Invitational hosted by the University of Oklahoma Saturday.

Eight of the qualifying marks were new opportunities at the national meet.

Kyli Bean qualified in the 400 meters, placing fourth in 55.2 seconds and Mai Fukada hit a qualifying mark in the triple jump at 37-5.

The 4x100 relay team of LaToya Greaves, Nickiesha Wilson, Leslie Polman and Bean qualified in 48.63.

Wilson hit a qualifying mark in winning the 400 hurdles at 59.06, but has a better time this season. Jessica Haynes, however, was third and is a new provisional qualifier in the event with a time of 1:05.36.

Greaves improved and Wilson matched their qualifying times in the 100 hurdles with Greaves coming in third at 13.76 and Wilson fourth at 13.86.

The 4x400 relay team of Bean, Chandra Huckabay, Kyta Willets and Wilson improved their national qualifying time at 3:52.36, good enough for second.

On the men's side, T.J. Lightsey and Clint Goodson both qualified in the 400 meters. Lightsey was fifth at 48.56 and Goodson sixth at 48.61.

The 4x400 team of Goodson, James Hall, Leonarde Smith and Lightsey qualified with a first-place 3:11.97. OBU had provisional qualifying times in their 4x400 B and C teams as well with Derek Nettles, Lamar Baskin, B.J. Bashoron and E.J. Rusher finishing in 3:19.33 and Bryce Bell, Prophet Bailey, Durrell Williams and A.J. Carter hitting 3:20.40.

Seth Ilaoa is a new provisional qualifier in the shot put at 50-2.5.

Lamar Baskin improved his 110 hurdle qualifying mark at 14.53 seconds in third place and Smith improved in the 400 hurdles with a third-place 52.60. Baskin also hit a provisional mark at 55.01 in the 400, but has a better time this season.

The 4x100 relay squad of Goodson, Bashoron, Hall and Nettles improved their qualifying time with a second-place 41.18.
