Bison Dominate Home Meet


Kyli Bean, Chandra Huckabay, Kyta Willets and Nickiesha Wilson captured first in the women's 4x400 relay with a national qualifying time of 3:56.16.

Wilson won the 400 hurdles with a qualifying mark of 1:00.20 and also was a provisional qualifier in the 110 hurdles at 14.99. She finished second to Latoya Greaves, who won with a national qualifying time of 14.19 seconds.

The rest of the qualifying results belonged to the men's team.

The Bison 4x400 squad of Clint Goodson, E.J. Rusher, Leonarde Smith and T.J. Lightsey won the event and qualified for nationals in 3:15.40.

The 4x800 relay team of Bryce Bell, Landon Willets, Durrell Williams and Michael Elizondo was first with a provisional mark of 7:48.

The 4x100 team qualified in first place at 41.69 seconds with James Hall, Goodson, Rusher and B.J. Bashorun.

Smith also qualified in the 400 hurdles in 52.8 seconds.

Lamar Baskin was a provisional qualifier in the 110 hurdles at 15.11, finishing second behind former Bison national champion Pat Brown, running unattached at 14.45.

Jeremiah Campo won the discus with a provisional qualifying mark of 153-9.

Also winning their events for the Bison on Saturday were Lady Bison Sarah Wiemero in the hammer (166-8.5), Mai Fukada in the long jump (16-6.75) and triple jump (36-0.5), the women's 4x800 relay team of Casie Legg, Emily Haynes, Huckabay and Amanda Mayfield (9:51.39), the women's 4x200 relay team of Bean, Willets, Leslie Polman and Wilson (1:41.32), Katy Rader in the steeplechase (12:54.29), Mayfield, Greaves, Bean and Huckabay in the sprint medley relay (4:10.5), Polman in the 100 meters (13.12) and Haynes, Mayfield, Legg and Willets in the distance medley relay (12:56).

Bison athletes winning their events were Campo in the hammer (149-10.5), Seth Ilaoa in the shot put (47-9.5), the men's 4x200 relay team of Hall, Derek Nettles, Bashorun and Lightsey (1:27.59), Jonathan Hilton in the triple jump (42-3), Goodson, Smith, Lightsey and A.J. Carter in the sprint medley relay (3:26.84), Hall in the 100 meters (10.97), and Willets, Rusher, Prophet Bailey and Michael Elizondo in the distance medley relay (10:29.13).
