Mumba Leads Eagles at Iowa State Classic

Ames, Iowa- All-American athlete Prince Mumba won the 800 meter run to lead the Oral Roberts University track and field team at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa.

Mumba took first in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:47.17, an NCAA automatic qualifying time. Mumba\'s time is tops in the NCAA, ranking him first in the nation and ninth in the world.

Andretti Bain also had a strong performance for the Golden Eagles, taking third place in the 400 meter dash. Bain finished with a time of 46.43, a personal best.

The men\'s 4x400 meter relay also made their NCAA provisional qualifying mark on Saturday, combining for a season-best time of 3:08.47.

On the women\'s side, Diana Chelimo led the charge with a third place finish in the mile run. Chelimo\'s time of 4:47.68 was a mere 2.25 seconds off of the leader\'s mark.

Faithy Kamangila made the NCAA automatic qualifying mark in the women\'s 5K with a time of 16:42.67, finishing sixth.

The Golden Eagles return to action next weekend at the Mid-Continent Conference Track and Field Indoor Track and Field Championships in Normal, Iowa to defend their men\'s and women\'s titles
