*note: SB stands for season best*
1. Bella Nelson 12 (Owasso):
Nelson continues her great season with a personal best at Chili Pepper. She came across the line in 4th and was the first Oklahoman to cross the line. Nelson's time of 17:26 is a three second personal best from last years state meet. It is likely that Nelson with double with another win at this year's state meet if she continues to run like this. Nelson is ranked 4th all time in this distance for an Oklahoma high school girl.
2. Natalie Duggan 12 (Edmond Santa Fe):
Duggan made her return with a season opener at Chili Pepper. Duggan placed 5th overall and ran a time of 17:46. Although this wasn't a personal best, 17:46 for a season opener puts her second in our power rankings.
3. Gwyneth Meyers 12 (Bishop Kelley):
Meyers has put together an impressive season. With a win at Deer Creek, second place at Rogers State, and some top ten finishes at out of state meets , Meyers has proven herself as the favorite in 5A. She ran 17:59 at Chili Pepper, placing 6th. At Rogers State, she set a personal best of 17:55.
4. Charli Keely 11 (Jenks):
Although Keely's personal best would put her 5th in the state, we have her at four. Keely has proven herself in head to head matchups. At Deer Creek she was 2nd beating out Emma Johnson, Kate Barber, Brooke and Claire Collins, Tayten Childers, and Pressley Rutledge. When Keely went to Rogers State, she out ran Ava Cornelius, Barber, the Collins sisters, Childers, and Rutledge. Keely has also performed well in some out of state meets.
5. Ava Cornelius 11 (Owasso):
Cornelius has put together three straight great performances. At Rogers State Cornelius placed 5th in a time of 18:07. Then at MSSU, she placed 3rd in a time of 18:02. Lastly at Chili Pepper she placed 10th in a time of 18:06. Cornelius has beaten a lot of the athletes on this list and is right there in the mix for a top five finish at state.
6. Brooke and Claire Collins (Piedmont):
I honestly could not decide who to put above the other so I just put them in a tie for 6th. Brooke has beaten Claire a couple times this season and vise versa. Claire has the best performance of the two with a 17:00 3 mile, while Brooke has a faster 5k official personal best. These two athletes are the lead runners for Piedmont and will be a force at state.
7. Emma Johnson 12 (Edmond North):
Johnson has put together a great season. A 3rd place finish at Deer Creek started her off well. Since then she has run 18:19, then placed 3rd at the Sugar Creek Showdown in Arkansas. She actually beat Charli Keely and Kate Barber pretty handily at this race, and could easily be a top five finisher at state. Johnson was the 2nd Oklahoman across the line at Cowboy Jamboree, behind Keely.
8. Kate Barber 11 (Jenks):
Barber has been a consistent number two for the Jenks squad. With a personal best of 18:07 at Rogers State, and some successful showings at out of state meets, Barber has solidified herself as a top ten runner in the state.
9. Baylee Woodrich 12 (Lincoln Christian):
Woodrich recently broke the school record at Chili Pepper in a time of 18:13. She placed 13th and outran Claire Collins and Tayten Childers. She was also 11th at Rogers State and 10th at MSSU. Woodrich is your likely favorite to win the 4A title as it stands today.
10. Pressley Rutledge/Tayten Childers (Tulsa Union and Piedmont):
Once again I was faced with a dilemma. I feel that both these athletes are deserving of this list so I went ahead and tied them at ten. Childers has the faster personal best with an 18:09 and beat Rutledge at Rogers State, while Rutledge beat Childers pretty handily at Deer Creek. This last weekend, Childers ran 18:46 at Chili Pepper and lost to a few names not on this list. Rutledge ran at Cowboy Jamboree and was the 3rd Oklahoman across the tape placing 9th overall in a time of 19:13. The Jamboree is one of the toughest courses in the nation, so this time is very deceiving. Both of these athletes are deserving of this ten spot.
