Gregg Byram Invite closes out busy week

NORMAN-- Moore's Hannah Bradford started off the 2018 campaign with a bang. In her first meet Saturday at the Gregg Byram Invitational, the MHS thrower came out of the gates with a double victory to set the tone for the rest of the year.

Bradford took home the top spot in the shot put with a toss of 37-feet-7. That was almost 2-feet farther than second place Jessica Stinson of Norman and Rosaria Milton of Duncan.

Bradford then turned around and dominated the discus. She posted a throw of 137-feet-6. Norman High's Keeli Kim was the runner-up at 116-feet.

As a junior last season, Bradford took third at the 6A state meet in the discus and didn't even place in the shot put. She looks to change that this season judging by the way she has started the year off.

Bradford's two first-place medals helped Moore secure a second place finish at the Gregg Byram Invite. The Lady Lions racked up 100 points, which was seven points behind Southmoore who took the girl's team title.

On the boy's side, it was Edmond Memorial who almost double up the competition. The Bulldogs tallied 147 points. Norman North was second with 87 and Shawnee grabbed third with 84.

Memorial ate up the competition in the relays. They took first in the 4x100 (42.28), 4x400 (3:22), 4x800 (8:05) and second to Norman North in the 4x200 (1:30.33). That earned them 76 points just in the relays.

Cole Lindell also gave the Bulldogs a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash.

Midwest City's Howard Douglass won the 100 and 200-meter dashes

The Southmoore girls followed the same formula. That also placed first in the 4x100 (48.97), 4x200 (1:44) and the 4x400 (4:04.78).

Whitney Bridges (100-meter dash) and Analya Miller (100-meter hurdles) led the charge for the SaberCats with first place titles in their individual events.

The girls high jump turned out to be a tight competition between three competitors. Del City's Sidney Sapp held off Westmoore's Tristen Robb and Duncan's Savannah Reynolds to win the title.
