Oklahoma High School XC Weekend Recap: (Oct. 8-10)

There were several meets over the weekend, with some taking place last Thursday. After the festivities of Chile Pepper, there were not a ton of meets taking place. However, there were still some strong performances as we gear up for the regional and state meets later this month.

Meets like these can help us see where athletes and teams are at as we near the post season. Early October meets often feature smaller schools, who do happen to run a week before the 5A and 6A programs do for the state championship.

Pinnacle Conference (Holland Hall)
Madison Miller won the individual conference title with an 11:36:27 in the 3200m run. Miller has had a consistent season, and is a major threat to win the 4A title this month. She has the foot speed to cover the distance if it comes down to a close finish. Regent took the team battle pretty handily with 30 points.

Owen Lush out of Cascia Hall won the 5000m with a 16:33.26. This was a fairly dominate win for Lush, and is a positive step as the state title race is only weeks away. He also led his team to the conference title by a margin of 1 point! What a close battle!

Carl Albert won handily with 41 points in the girls 5000m. Piper Mitchell led her team to victory with the individual title in 19:25.58. This is a good step for Carl Albert. On the boys side, Blanchard won by 7 points with a total of 50. This was a close race down to the wire. For Blanchard, Jack Keeler took the win with a 16:57.09.

Durant dominated both the boys and girls race while also having both first place finishers. Zach Ervin took the win in 16:43.30 and Avery Sager won with an 18:49.41. Both of these athletes are names to watch at the state meet. Both are seniors, and will look to have their best performances yet.
Landon Eubank is getting into postseason form as he wins the individual title with a 15:54.75. This margin of victory was nearly a minute. Eubank has historically been exceptional in cross country, so this year will be interesting to see if he can close out his senior cross country season where he has found himself before, at the top of the podium.

Caris Tilley won the 3200m with a time of 11:59.73. This is a great sign for Tilley, and the Byng team is looking strong going into the postseason. Tilley led them to the conference title, which is a great confidence booster for late October.
