Summer track can be fast in Oklahoma. Many of the state's best continue their seasons into July in order to try to run new personal bests. As of Mid-June, we find ourselves in a spot where we have seen two sub 5 1600m times since the state meet's wrapped up. Ava Cornelius from Owasso leads the way with a 4:57.91. Cornelius will be running for the University of Tulsa this fall. Cornelius is the 2nd Owasso female to run under 5 minutes in the last two years. 

Charli Keely is next up with a 4:59.79. Keely has been a consistent athlete her entire career at Jenks. Keely is going to Lipscomb to run XC and track this fall. Courtney Occhiuzzo and Kayla King are two freshman in the top 5 on this list. Occhiuzzo has broken 5 minutes during the regular season, and runs very close to it with a 5:00.50. King ran 5:02.45 back in late May. Both of these athletes have bright futures in this sport. Avery Nelson from Yukon rounds out the top 5 with a 5:12.39 performance. Nelson is only a sophom...
