Last weekend was the state wide small school regional meets. These are meets that make up the divisions 1A through 4A. Regionals brings put the postseason pressure that comes with participating in track and field. Athletes gear up to run, throw, or jump their best and the state meet becomes a very real idea in their heads.
There were many highlighted performances this past weekend. Here are some of the best!
Jeremi Casteel out of Heavener High School threw the discus 173-1 feet at his regional. This won him the event and means that he is regional champ. Casteel is the number one ranked thrower in the state by 7 feet. His throw of 187-0 in April is a personal best.
Jordan Martinez from Weatherford High School crushed it at the Chisholm Regional. Martinez won with his throw of 54-4 in the shot put. He is the number 8 ranked thrower in the state in this event.
