Last weekend was the state wide small school regional meets. These are meets that make up the divisions 1A through 4A. Regionals brings put the postseason pressure that comes with participating in track and field. Athletes gear up to run, throw, or jump their best and the state meet becomes a very real idea in their heads.
There were many highlighted performances this past weekend. Here are some of the best!
Tate Monden out of Harrah High School crushed his 800m race last weekend with a 1:54.90. He won the event and has now reached the top ten in the state at this distance. This has been a great senior season for Monden so far!
Ogana Swimmer from Sequoyah High School (Tahlequah) won both the 1600 and the 3200m at his regional meet. He ran 4:27.88 and 9:39.99. Swimmer has been consistent this year, and the state meet will be a good test for the junior.
Ethan Jones from Cache has had a great career so far. The now junior won both the 1600 and 3200 at his regional. His 4:28.43 and 9:52.45 are strong times to work off of going into the state meet.
Ty Brooks out of Lincoln Christian School won the 800, 1600, and 3200 at his meet. He ran 1:59.93, 4:29.24, and 9:51.41. These are all slower times for Brooks in comparison to what he has ran, but the junior is smart for keeping it conservative.
