Top 10 Senior Boys in the 1600m
So far this outdoor season has been a fast one for the boys 1600m event. With a blistering 4:11.23 from Deer Creek's Brody Woodcock, the senior boys field is set for more fast times to drop later this season. One of my major takeaways is that Broken Arrow has two athletes on this list. This is something to watch as the state meet continues to get closer.
Another note, is that the 1600m state record set by Zac Black in 2016 has continued to be pushed. Since Black's run, there has been a handful of athletes get close. Can Woodcock be the one to break it? That is something to watch out for the rest of this season.
Lastly, I think it will be interesting to see how many other athletes break 4:20 this year. A fast state meet could bring multiple athletes in the same race to that mark.
