OU\'s Coleman Tabbed Big 12 Runner of the Week

DALLAS – University of Oklahoma junior Jason Coleman was named Big 12 Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week Wednesday, Oct. 11, by the league office.

The Watonga, Okla. , native finished 16th out of 209 runners at Saturday's Penn State National Invitational, completing the 5.2-mile course in 26 minutes, 13 seconds – a 5:02-mile pace. He finished just 48 seconds behind the overall winner and led the Sooner team to a sixth-place standing in a very competitive field.

Coleman is the second Sooner to win such recognition in 2006, making Oklahoma the only school to have two men earn the honor. Freshman Rob Sorrell was named the season\'s first runner of the week.

Coleman, Sorrell and the rest of the OU men's cross country team next compete at the Big 12 Championships at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence , Kan. , Friday, Oct. 27.

The OU women's cross country team heads to Terre Haute , Ind. , Saturday, Oct. 14, for the Indiana State Pre-National Invitational.
