Betterton Signs with Bison

Four-time state champion Adam Betterton has signed a scholarship agreement to run track at Oklahoma Baptist University, beginning in 2006-07.

Betterton, who won the 2005 110 and 300 hurdles at Shawnee High School, joins the tradition-rich Bison track program that has become a national power in those events. Betterton, who also was a part of back-to-back 3200 relay state championship squads, also will compete for a spot on OBU's powerful 4x400 and 4x800 relay teams.

"We are very pleased to have Adam join us because his leadership will ensure that our team will be the type of team OBU will be proud of," said Bison coach Ford Mastin. "He is more than a talented competitor – he is a winner."

Betterton was runner-up in the 300 hurdles in 2004 and 1600 relay in 2005. The Wolves won the state team title in 2005 after a runner-up finish in 2004.

He is the son of Mark and Karla Betterton.
