Jordan Powell placed seventh in the mile and Tara Collins placed ninth in the 5,000 meters at the NAIA National Indoor Track and Field Championships Saturday.
Powell ran the mile in 4:16.31, just missing a sixth-place finish and All-America honors. Collins posted a time of 17:55.52 in the 5,000-meter run.
Both events were won by freshmen, but Powell and Collins were the only other freshmen to place in the top 10 in each race.
OC had three top-10 finishes at the national meet; the Eagle 4x800 relay team of Powell, Curtis Pratt, Josh Wayland and Kevin Poole placed eighth on Friday. The national meet was held in Johnson City, Tenn.
