The Scoop: Port Arthur Memorial Makes History

5. Middle-Schooler Tamari Davis Blows By Competitors in 100m

A few weeks ago, 14-year-old Tamari Davis set a new age group world record in the 200m with a 23.38 second clocking at the Bring The Heat Invitational in North Carolina.

So the Abraham Lincoln (Fl.) Middle School sprinter wasn't going to catch anyone by surprise on Saturday at the FLYRA Middle School State Championships at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

But she still wowed fans anyway after running 11.34 seconds in the 100m.

It would have stood up as the No. 3 time in the nation had it not been aided by a 6.1-wind.

And anyway you cut it, it predicts a good future for Davis, who hails from Gainesville.

For good measure, Davis won the 200m dash in 23.32 seconds - with a 4.6 wind.
