Both the girls and guys had strong showings at NXN South. In a race where several girls teams had a shot at the auto qualifying bids Southlake stepped up big. The Girls team will be making the trip back to Portland this year after a year hiatus. They did it in winning fashion, scoring 78 points. Southlake had a strong showing from several runners including Sarah Odneal and Gillian Mortimer these two ladies stepped up big finishing 16th and 21st to help the lady dragons win the NXN South crown. On the guys side Reed Brown crushed the guys race helping Southlake clench the 2nd NXN auto qualifying spot. Brown had one of the best races of his career, beating out 6A State champ Daniel Golden, Louisiana State Champ Devy Keith, as well as several talented runners in the boys championship race.  Charlie Gardner also stepped up big for Southlake placing 4th overall and 3rd in the team score. They also closed down the gap on The Woodlands from 80 at the state meet to only 18 this past weekend, could they be the number one NXN South team at NXN? Either way this will be the 9th time, and 5th year in a row a Southlake Carroll guys team has made it to NXN.
