Tulsa Women\'s Track Team Earns Fourth-Place Mark at C-USA Indoor Championships

Houston, Texas - The Tulsa women\'s and men\'s track teams completed competition at the Conference USA Indoor Championships on Saturday afternoon at the Yeoman Field House in Houston, Texas. The women earned a fourth-place mark overall, while the men finished seventh.

Junior-transfer Stephanie Jeffers captured a personal-best, a school-record and the best shot put throw in the conference with a distance of 15.35m (50-4.50). The Women\'s Distance Medley team, consisting of freshman Dawn Nagazina, junior Shameka Holloway, and freshmen April Montgomery and Alex Becker, notched a time of 11:51.80 for the top-finish at the championships.

In the 200-meter dash, junior Chantelle Willard registered a sixth-place time of 24.93. Holloway and Willard nabbed personal-bests and the sixth- and eighth-place marks in the 400-meter dash with times of 56.32 and 56.67, respectively.

Becker claimed the second-best time of 4:56.07 in the mile run, as senior Lise Olivier, freshman Marissa Saunders and sophomore Breanna Chipney finished sixth, eighth and tenth, respectively.

Sophomore Sophia Rodriguez recorded the fifth-best triple jump in the conference with a distance of 12.03m (39-5.75).

On the men\'s side, sophomore Thomas Stoltz tallied a new personal-best and school record in the Heptathlon with 4,507 points. This beats his previous mark of 4,136 point set at the Razorback Invitational earlier this season.

Junior Mathew Musengezi captured a third-place finish with a time of 1:54.60 in the 800-meter run, while sophomore Jordan Hughes claimed a personal-best and a sixth-place mark in a time of 1:56.15. In the mile run, freshman Eric Harris registered a time of 4:21.20, as junior Andrew Beard posted a time of 4:24.33 for eighth- and ninth-place marks, respectively.

In the 3,000-meter run, junior Edwin Henshaw recorded a personal-best, a fourth-place mark in TU\'s record books and a fifth-place finish in the conference with his time of 8:22.18. Classmate Rickey Wilson, Jr., nabbed a fifth-place time of 8:43 in the 60-meter hurdles.

Both the 4x400-meter relay team and the distance medley team captured fourth-place performances. The 4x400-meter relay team of sophomores Jerrod Landress and O\'Dell Smith, and Wilson and Musengezi, earned a time of 3:21.27, while senior-transfer Jan Pernica, Landress, Musengezi and Henshaw notched a team-best 10:26.29 in the distance medley.

Freshman Robert Nickels finished fifth in the conference with a distance of 6.82m (22-4.5) in the long jump, and earned a personal-best, third-place mark on TU\'s record books and a seventh-place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 13.51m (44-4.0).

The track and field teams will continue indoor action on Saturday, March 4th at the Iowa State Last Chance in Ames, Iowa.
