UCO Harriers 7th at Regionals

ABILENE, Texas (Nov. 5) -- Central Oklahoma received top-50 finishes from four runners to earn a seventh-place showing at the NCAA Division II South Central Cross Country Regional here Saturday.

Central Missouri State edged Abilene Christian by two points to claim the team championship, with both teams qualifying for the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships.

Redshirt freshman Claribel Mendoza was UCO\'s top finisher, placing 24th with a time of 24:33 in the six-kilometer race. Freshman Cynthia Kimes took 27th place, followed by freshman Brittany Callender (42nd) and senior Carlie Siner-Wellington (48th).

\"Considering the level of competition here today, I thought we ran well\", said coach J.D. Martin. \"The girls worked hard all season and gained a lot of valuable experience. We made a lot of progress this year and I\'m excited about what the future holds for this program.\"
