TU Cross Country Teams Finish in Top-5 at C-USA Championships

Tulsa, Oklahoma – The University of Tulsa men's and women's cross
country teams earned third- and fourth-place finishes, respectively, on
Saturday at the Conference USA Championships at the Disney Wide World
of
Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Six Tulsa athletes earned
all-conference honors with their performance at the championships.

Sophomore Brett Turowski led the Golden Hurricane for the third time
this season with an eighth-place finish in a time of 24:50.40 for the
8,000-meter race. Classmate Edwin Henshaw trailed Turowski by eight
seconds to claim the ninth-place mark in a time of 24:58.70, while
sophomore Joel Stansloski posted an 11th-place finish with a time of
25:05.95. Junior Andrew Beard and sophomore Jason Schweitzer recorded
times of 25:15.44 and 25:29.14, respectively, for the 14th- and
16th-place finishes. All times for the five TU athletes are
personal-bests, with Turowski and Henshaw earning second-team
all-conference honors, and Stansloski and Beard receiving third-team
all-conference accolades.

On the women's side, junior Lise Olivier registered a personal-best
with
her time of 17:50.79 for a ninth-place mark for the 5,000-meter race.
Sophomore Breanna Chipney posted a time of 17:57.55 for 11th-place, as
junior Renine Le Heron recorded the 23rd-place mark in a time of
18:22.50. Freshman Marissa Saunders recorded the fourth-best time for
the Golden Hurricane with a 27th-place finish in a time of 18:35.23,
while sophomore Alex Becker rounded out TU's top-five with her time of
18:43.33 for the 31st-place mark. Olivier garnered second-team
all-conference honors, and Chipney was named to the third-team
all-conference.

"The men's team couldn't have ran any better today," Head Coach Steve
Gulley said. "They gave it their all and did very well. The women's
team
didn't have their best race, but we are a young team and it showed a
little today. Overall I think both teams represented Tulsa very well."
