Last weekend was the state wide small school regional meets. These are meets that make up the divisions 1A through 4A. Regionals brings put the postseason pressure that comes with participating in track and field. Athletes gear up to run, throw, or jump their best and the state meet becomes a very real idea in their heads.
There were many highlighted performances this past weekend. Here are some of the best!
Johnny Canada from Cache won the Chisholm regional with his time of 10.73 in the 100m. Canada has had a strong season so far and is one of the favorites to win the 100 meters in his division. Caleb Peterson out of Lincoln Christian also got it done by running a 10.74 at his regional meet to win the event. Peterson is the current state number 2 in the 100m dash.
Colt Moore from Woodward High School had himself a day by running a 21.59 in the 200m to win his event and a 48.35 in the 400m to place 1st overall. Moore is one of the best sprinters in the state at the 200/400m distance.
Greydon Howell from Broken Bow High School ran very well in the 400m dash last weekend. His time of 48.35 is the number three ranked time in the state. Howell is a name to watch at his state meet.
James Williams out of Plainview got it done at his regional meet with two very strong times in the 110mH and 300mH. Williams has been one of the best in the state at these events and he continues that consistency into May. He is top 5 in the state in both these events.
