Last week was full of big time performances across all events and divisions. With the season hurling forward towards post-season meets, we are seeing athletes really step it up.
Cornelius is known more for the 1600 and 3200 meter events. However, last week, she ran an open 800 at her conference meet. During this race she managed to win with a quick 2:16.74. This time is ranked 4th overall in the state. The senior from Owasso could make an appearance towards the top of the podium at state if she decides to run this event. Cornelius also had another performance that was good for top 5 in the state. This time it was the 1600m, where she ran a new state lead of 4:57.09. Cornelius joins a short list of athletes that have ran 4:57 or better in Oklahoma.
Missildine has had a great spring after a successful fall Cross Country season. The sophomore out of Edmond Memorial placed well at the OSSAA 6A XC State Championships and has used the momentum to be competitive across all major distance events in high school track. She ran a 2:17.99 in the 800m last week, which is good for 5th in the state.
Keely has been consistent for years now. This track season that hasn't changed, as she ran a 5:07.67 at her conference meet. Keely has raced against strong competition her entire career. She is battle tested and has a strong chance to perform well at state this summer. Her time of 5:07.67 is 5th overall in the state.
Poindexter has been a successful athlete for Bixby for awhile now. The junior is having a strong season, placing high in the hurdles and being one of the team's anchors. Her time of 14.32 in the 100mH last week is 2nd in the state.
Carter is ranked 4th in the state in the 100mH due to her time last week of 14.72. The Davis High School sophomore has had a strong season and is one of the favorites to win a state title in her division. Carter is a name to watch as we get closer to the state meet.
