7/31-Amy Backel and Kristin Reed win multple events at Keystone Summer Games @ Cedar Cliff

The blazing sun and the scoarching heat couldn\'t stop multi-sport star Amy Backel, Upper Perkiomen distance ace Kristin Reed, and many other PA athletes from having a great day at the PA Keystone Games at Cedar Cliff HS. Reed entered herself in the 17-18 girl\'s 800m and 1500m, and managed to take home gold in both events, winning the 1500 in 5:06.68, and the 800 in 2:29.73. \"I ran in California in late June right after states, but since then I have not been doing any track training at all, just preparing for my upcoming XC season.\" Reed, soon to be a senior at Upper Perk, was 13th at the 2004 PIAA XC State Championships, and should be a real threat in her senior year. Another notable Keystone performance came from Meagan Wolf, soon to be senior at Owen J Roberts, who won the 17-18 girls 400m in 60.00. Running on her home track, Cedar Cliff\'s Kassandra Meholick went 10:49.6 - a time made more impressive because she ran it alone. Backel was her usual - amazing. She won the Young Women\'s Heptathlon with 4,429 points, plus she took first in the Javelin with a throw of 144-05, and the Pole Vault, clearing 10-06. Center\'s Allyn Laughlin took the YW Shot Put with a big toss of 43-08.

In boys action, Windber\'s Nate Kiss ran 14.85 to hold off Bible Baptist\'s Brandon Tress, 2nd in 14.94 in the 110 Hurdles for Young Men. And Warwick\'s Alex Heacock threw the Jav 171-03 to take first.
