Friday Film Throwback: Brandon Miller's 800m Journey

This week's Friday Film takes it back to our feature on John Burrough's (MO) then-sophomore Brandon Miller in 2017. Ahead of filming, Miller was coming off a third-place outing in the 800m at Brooks PR and was preparing for the AAU Junior Olympics that ensuing summer, where he would go on to set a new AAU 15-16 age group national record in a time of 1:49.87 at the age of 16.

A lot has happened since the film.

Miller graduated high school in 2020 -- he finished with a HS PR of 1:49.35 -- before enrolling at Texas A&M, where he proceeded to win two SEC titles as a freshman and then finish second at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with an overall best of 1:44.97 in 2021 -- that performance finished the year as the 52nd fastest time in the World.

As a sophomore, he then went on to win an NCAA Indoor Championship at 800 meters in March. In June, he placed third at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. A few weeks later, on June 26, he qualified for his first U.S. World team in the 800m after finishing third at the USATF Outdoor Championships in 1:45.19.
