Tulsa\'s Jeffers Sets School Record in Discus at Wichita State Invitational

Wichita, Kan. - Tulsa junior-transfer Stephanie Jeffers set a new school record by more than 23 feet, and registered a personal-best and first-place performance in the discus with her throw of 47.99m (157-5.0) on Saturday at the Wichita State Invitational in Wichita, Kansas. Five other Golden Hurricane student-athletes earned first-place marks, as a total of 19 TU tracksters registered personal-bests. Tulsa also qualified one new runner for NCAA Regional competition.

Junior Chantelle Willard captured a personal-best, a first-place finish and qualified for NCAA Regional competition with her time of 23.78 in the 200-meter dash. Her time was the second-best in school history. Junior Shameka Holloway turned in a time of 24.24 for a second-place mark and a personal record in the same event.

Holloway registered a first-place time of 55.11 in the 400-meter dash, while Willard\'s time of 55.71 was a personal-best and second-best in the meet. Jeffers also tallied a first-place throw of 14.10m (46-3.25) in the shot put.

On the men\'s side, Rickey Wilson, Jr., earned a first-place time of 53.34 in the 400-meter hurdles, while Thomas Stoltz turned in a season-best performance and a first-place throw of 64.84m (212-9.0) in the javelin.

The Golden Hurricane will return to action, Friday-Saturday, April 21-22, at the Michael Johnson Invitational in Waco, Texas.
