Salute To Seniors: Kevin Edram - John I. Leonard HS

The 2017-2018 school year has provided some great highlights in both cross country and track across the Sunshine State. In the coming weeks many of our seniors will head out to start their college careers both athletically and academically. We wanted to salute them one more time in this special feature and say thank you for your support over the years.

Today we salute John I. Leonard HS senior Kevin Edram.

What was your most memorable race/moment?

My most memorable moment was when I was in the finals for the 100m at regionals and I ended up false starting. I always use that as motivation because I was so disappointed.

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

Roodolph Antoine of Dwyer was my biggest competition.

What was your greatest accomplishment?

Breaking the 11-second barrier in the 100m dash.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

Starting track my freshman year and taking it serious.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

Running when I was sick in order to qualify for regionals and states.

What will you miss the most?

Watching my teammates improve and reaching goals that others thought would be impossible.

What advice you would give to younger athletes?

Work hard in every practice and run every race like it's your last.

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

Coach Walker, my club coach, has helped push me to be a better athlete by influencing me to run harder in practices meets, and also try out other races such as the 400m which I thought I could never do. My high school coach has influenced my performance by providing adequate nutritional information and providing me with everything I could possibly need at every meet.

What are your college plans?

To go to Florida State University and study Information Technology and obtain a Masters in Business Administration. Also, a goal of mine is to get my times down to where they need to be in order to be a track athlete at FSU.

Who would you like to say thank you to?

I would like to thank my mother, Coach Walker, Coach Rodgers, Coach CB, and everyone who has supported me.
