Keller Timer Creek's Chase Dennis Celebration Turns Tragic

Former Keller Timber Creek student-athlete Chase Dennis passed away in tragic drowning accident.

Dennis played football and track and field at Timber Creek from 2013 - 2016. The Fort Worth, Texas native graduated in 2016 after a successful high school career in which he won the Region 1-6A discus title in 2015 ending up with a bronze medal and third place finish at the UIL 6A state meet.

He would eventually enroll at Coffeyville Community College (CCC) in Coffeyville, Kansas.

At CCC, Dennis would be named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American team for the 2018 indoor season.

Just last week, on May 8, 2018, Dennis announced that he signed with Northwestern State University in Nachitoches, Louisiana to continue his student-athletic career.

Four days later, he was pronounced dead.

On May 12, 2018, after his graduation, Dennis drowned at a lake in Kansas while celebrating his graduation, signing, and qualifying for the national track and field meet in the hammer throw and the discus. Heading into this weekend's NJCAA national track and field meet, Dennis was ranked #3 in the discus and #4 in the hammer throw.

According to the Timber Creek Talon, Dennis had a "bright smile and was a positive influence and a track and field star."

Craig Perry, CCC Head Track Coach said, "Dennis was described as being a "fantastic kid" that was "full of life," per the Timber Creek Talon.

The Timber Creek Athletic Booster Club is planning on donating a scholarship in Dennis' name. They will be taking donations for a scholarship to be awarded in his name at the Track and Field Banquet this Friday, May 18.

Our hearts and thoughts go out to the Dennis family and friends, Colleyville Community College, and the Keller Timber Creek family.
