Throwback Thursday: 11 Guys Run Under 9 At Loucks Games

At the 2016 Glenn D. Loucks Games, 11 guys ran under nine minutes in the 3200m. It was one of the largest Glenn D. Loucks Games 3200m fields in recent history to eclipse the nine-minute barrier.

The field was led by then-junior Noah Affolder form Carthage, New York, who transferred to Carlisle, Pennsylvania, his senior year. Affolder ran 8:47.60 for the win. The last guy to break nine in the field was Liverpool's Ben Petrella who went 8:59.79. The last lap of the race came down to an exciting battle and a final 200m kick from Affolder to take the win.

Despite such a large field running under nine minutes, the meet record of 8:42.92 remained intact. Mikey Brannigan of Northport, New York, holds that mark which he set one year before in 2015. His time also still stands as the New York state record.

This year the Glenn D. Loucks Games will again be live on MileSplit. You can tune in to the action starting Thursday, May 10, at 5 PM EDT. The meet will continue through Saturday, May 12. Don't miss some of the best in the Northeast throwing down in this historic meet.
