The 2014-2015 school year is right around the corner. For Winter Haven class of 2014 sprinter Bennie Wesley his college decision came down to the final bell. With time ticking, the four-time state qualifier, chose the University of Oklahoma. See what he has to say about the recruiting process and his decision to join the Sooner nation.

What was the recruiting process like for you?

For me the recruiting process was rigorous because I didn't really have an idea of where I wanted to go.

Which schools did you consider?

I considered Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Maryland, Kentucky, Illinois, USF, and the University of Oklahoma.

In the end you picked the Sooners. What was it that sold you on their program?

I chose OU because I feel at home there. The coaches were cool and I felt like I belonged there. The town of Norman also reminds me of winter haven the town I live in. So after my visit it was quite easy that OU was the place for me.

The fall semester starts fairly. Were you getting farily nervous waiting until the last minute to make a final choice?

I was running out of time and was getting nerous at one point. I had a thought that I'd just have to go to a local college then transfer but I stayed positive and kept believing. I head up to Norman on Wednesday to get ready for the semester.

You finished sixth in the state in the 100m dash three years in a row. You were fifth this year in the 200m dash at state. What will you remember the most about your time at Winter Haven High School?

I will remember the friends I've made across the state and how much my friends and family helped me along. Especially through a couple of injuries.

What are you looking forward to most about running at the University of Oklahoma?

I'm looking for forward to the college track and field atmosphere. From waking up early to traveling all across the country and meeting new people along the way. My goals are simple. Work hard on and off the track see how far it takes you.
