Jenks Trojans cross country teams capture honors at Holland Hall Meet

The Jenks Trojans cross country teams had outstanding performances at the Holland Hall Invitational Meet last Saturday, claiming two meet championships and two second place finishes.

The Jenks varsity boys team dominated a field of 11 teams and took top honors with 47 points. Tulsa Bishop Kelly was second with 57, followed by Broken Arrow with 64, Holland Hall 73, Metro Christian 145, Bartlesville 168, Bixby 187, Coweta 246, Cascia Hall 280, Pryor 286 and Memorial 343.

Shawn Dolin led the varsity Trojan boys by finishing sixth place overall over the 5K course in a time of 17:23. Ryan Fischer was close on his heels, coming in eighth in 17:26; Jared James was tenth in 17:36; Dylan Moon was right behind finishing in 11th place in 17:38. Reese Jackson was 12th in 17:44; Trey Newsom was 16th in 18:04; and Ryan Jackson finished 20th in 18:23.

The Jenks varsity girls also enjoyed a very successful day, capturing second place in the team competition, finishing only five points behind Bartlesville.

Bartlesville ended up with 54 points with Jenks right behind at 59 points. Bishop Kelly was third with 72 points followed by Metro Christian with 86, Broken Arrow 114, Holland Hall 133 and Coweta with 203 points.

Miranda Zoller finished seventh overall in 13:05 over the two-mile course to lead the girls. Amy McCarthy was 10th in 13:11; Jacquelyn Skocik finished 12th in 13:17; Rachael Fiest was right behind in 13th place in 13:18; Ali Price was 17th in 13:29; Anna Barber was 24th in 13:40 and Sierra Ross was 25th in 13:42.

The Junior Varsity teams enjoyed similar levels of success in the JV competition as the Jenks JV boys totally dominated their event by capturing the first seven spots in the race as they scored 15 points, the best possible score.

Jacob Lore captured top honors in a time of 18:19, followed by Rob Redwine second in 18:41; Stuart Jackson third in 18:51; Michael Dolan fourth in 18:59; Daniel Rock fifth in 19:02; John Fingado sixth in 19:05 and Kyle Stubbs seventh in 19:06.

The Jenks JV girls took second place in matching their varsity counterparts.

Kristin Allen took top honors overall in winning the race in 13:41. Laura Manness came in fifth in 14:00; Amanda Sartain was sixth in 14:01; Katey Tankersley was seventh in 14:04; Anna Rutherford was 12th in 14:56; Sarah Martin came in 16th in 15:10 and Amy Thompson was 17th in a time of 15:12.

The next competition for the Trojans cross country teams will be Saturday at the OSU Cross Country Jamboree on the Oklahoma State University campus in Stillwater.
